I wanna talk real quick on how you can make the most out of your Instagram profile. As Founder of @universityofrock, I come across A LOT of profiles every day. Some are good and some are bad.
To have a kick ass profile, I believe you should have the following 3 things:
1. Catchy And Easy To Remember Username
Your username is usually the first thing someone notices when they visit your profile, see you on another account, etc. Having a catchy and EASY TO REMEMBER username is so important. I want to stress EASY TO REMEMBER.
I can’t tell you how many times I come across an awesome video for @universityofrock and the username is something like “matthewhansenthomasthethirdgtrenthusiast3000”. Someone shoot me now. And you know what? Most of the time when I come across a username that is really weird and hard to remember, I skip out on featuring that person! Why? Because it’s annoying and I don’t want to switch back and forth from my repost app a thousand times trying to get his username right.
So remember, have an easy to remember and catchy username, it’ll take you a long way! Just look at mine @universityofjk. Easy and catchy right?
2. Kickass Bio
When someone visits your profile, the first thing they notice is your bio section. Your bio section tells someone all about you in 3-5 seconds. This means that you have 3-5 seconds to capture their attention and hopefully get them to follow you.
A couple tips on having a kickass bio is to number one, use emojis. People LOVE emojis. The second piece of advice is to actually put important shit on there. Who are you and what do you stand for?
Of course, having “Ambassador @universityofrock” in your bio is pretty badass and makes you stand out since our Ambassador program is pretty exclusive. Other than that, having solid info on what you do as well as your main social network handles is always good.
Here’s what my bio looks like. Notice how I use emojis and also space out the lines so it looks modern and clean. You can add line breaks by typing out your bio on your notes app or in a Facebook post (obviously don’t post the Facebook post). Simply type it out how you want it, then copy and paste it into Instagram.
3. Awesome Content/Feed
The last tip I have for you is to actually have GOOD and specific content. This means your posts should be high quality (both visual and audio) and should relate to a specific theme. Remember on our older post where we talked about having a niche specific account? For example, if I go to your account and I see pictures of food, your cat, the new tv you bought, and a picture of your long lost cousin, I’m not going to very intrigued as a guitar player. Now if I see a bunch of posts related to guitar, it’s going to appeal to me more.
I’m not saying ALL your posts should be about guitar, but it is a good idea to stick to a certain theme. This way people know what you’re all about right off the bat.
Hope you got some value out of this.
