By now every Metallica fan is aware of the horrible mishaps that took place during Metallica and Lady Gaga’s Grammy performance of “Moth Into Flame”.
Between James Hetfield’s mic troubles, and the fact that Lady Gaga was the only performer introduced, metal fans were not very happy with the outcome.
But within the last couple of days, Metallica released footage from the dress rehearsal the day before the awards, where everything went right. Here’s what Metallica had to say:
“We’ve had so many of you ask and wonder ‘what if,’ so we thought it might be fun to also share with you what happened just a few hours earlier that day the dress rehearsal with all cylinders firing just right. Collaborating, hanging and performing with Gaga was easily one of the most exciting, inspiring, and enjoyable experiences of our career-- she BRINGS IT every single time! All we have to say is that we absolutely cannot wait until next time!” (via Blabbermouth)
Lars Ulrich, longtime Metallica drummer also commented on Hetfield’s mic difficulties in the first half of the song.
“There was a slight technical snafu, but that’s not really something you can do much about. You just learn to live with that side of it. It happened to Adele last year; I guess this year it was our turn.” It was said that the technical difficulties were caused due to a member of the crew accidentally unplugging Hetfield’s microphone.
