Motley Crue's The Dirt Coming To Netflix!

Posted by Juliana Tessaro on

The 2001 tell-all biopic of glam metal’s most iconic band is finally becoming the movie we have all been promised.

The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band has been in the works for quite a while; the script was in Paramount’s hands but it never came to fruition. Now, a decade and a half later, Netflix is bringing Motley Crue’s story to you.

The Dirt depicts Motley Crue’s rise on the Sunset Strip, achieving success with their first album Too Fast For Love (1981), it was Shout at the Devil (1993) that put them on the map as one of the top selling metal acts of the decade. From their individually humble beginnings, to world wide success, their story is not just sex and drugs, even though that is a part of it. What band didn’t take part in it? But there is so MUCH MORE to their journey than just the debauchery and their reputations. Nikki Sixx’s troubled childhood, Tommy Lee’s public relationships, Vince Neil’s car crash and Mick Mars’ battle with ankylosing spondylitis are a few of the many stepping stones in a tumultuous two decade career (up to that point).

If you haven’t read the book yet, you must. You get every band member’s point of view, including John Corabi, who had a short stint with the band that consisted of one album and one EP. You feel like you are a part of it, as you are taken every step of the way, from the first idea of a band, to their many fallouts, to forgiveness, to redemption, to putting it all on the line again and again.

No date has yet been set for its release, but it is believed that the band members will be portrayed by unknown actors. We’ll be sitting tight waiting for news of development, casting, release dates, etc. Until then, read The Dirt again, listen to Shout at the Devil as loud as possible, and just wait until The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band rocks your socks off once again.
