Tool have announced they will embark on a summer tour across North America.
Comprising of ten-dates only, the tour will commence on the 24th May at Fairfax’s Eaglebank Arena and finish on the 8th June at Rosemont Allstate Arena. This announcement comes after the prog-rock giants were confirmed to appear at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival in New York on the 4th June.
Tool are the latest band in a massive list who have already announced North American tours this summer. Other huge rock bands playing tours across North America this year include, My Morning Jacket, Boston and Joan Jett, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, and Mr. Big.
Tool rose to fame in the nineties as alternative/progressive metal favourites. They have since become legends of the genre with complex music characterised by odd time signatures, long-duration times and existentialist themes.
The band have been known to take years to record albums, only releasing them when they are ready. Tool are currently working on their as yet untitled fifth record, due to be their first release since 10, 000 Days (2006). Already eleven years in the making, this is the longest time the musicians have spent on an album. However, according to their website, vocalist Maynard James Keenan recently began tracking vocals for the new record.
Members of the prog-metal band dip their fingers into a lot of other projects in between records as well. Maynard James Keenan is also the vocalist for supergroup A Perfect Circle, and creator of the side project Puscifier. Both bands have released three albums respectively. Drummer Danny Carey has contributed to a wide array of musical projects including: Skinny Puppy, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, Zaum and The Melvins.'
